the comic strip

i remember i used to draw things that bothers me and make it in some small comic story. it does help me to get all those negative energy. i did one today. somehow it calms me down. maybe i'll start doing this when ever mr. frustration visit me.

frrrustrateddddd... again

i realize i don't have any decent work at all and all the work that i have is either half finish or not good at all.
and then it started...the list of negative thoughts to myself. so frustrating. i think i really don't know how to draw. ( i didn't even capture the frustrated expression)
well my friend said it's not yet too late, okay..don't give up you silly self! starting from scratch is not bad. we need patience, knowledge and practice!
(i really regret now not practicing those basic and fundamentals things).

i better ask my friend those quotes she share before.

march 22

i did this to practice those soft and hard edges. it's kind of hard to keep switching and adjusting to those brushes. i really don't use that technique (maybe that's why my drawings seems to lack something). well it does have different result. should figure it out how to switch to those brushes.

this is suppose to be a speed paint. but as usual it takes me more than an hour.i like the grey scale. i don't like much the color render, i still have to study those colors, must learn to mix and match those colors.

not quite happy with the face construction (mindless sketching again). too late to fix it. anyway. next time
i should analyze 1st the reference or the subject before doodling it down. (sorry random girl i make you look horrible)

Floating Cake

well i feel inspired today so i decided to look at my drawing and evaluate myself.
as i look into my folders i find a lot of psd and sai files instead of jpegs.
as i open them i remember the word WIP...it suppose to be Work In progress
but i think WTP is much suitable for it.. Waiting to Progress

so there i decided to finish one today.

i did this one last year...when i open it i wonder why i didn't finish it. but as i'm painting i remember why, well beside the fact that i might be sleepy at that time and  i just don't how to finish it;  the reference makes me hungry. a very challenging WIP to finish especially when you're hungry and nothing to eat at the middle of night. it looks like it's floating to me....maybe i'll try to fix and clean it up when i'm not hungry and sleepy.

now i wonder why do i have piles of WIP in my folders

February post

sad to say i didn't reach my goal in doing a lot of  tiny studies last February T_T

i did one color study last month but i find myself not focusing on the values ending up frustrated and didn't do any color studies anymore. so i decided to go back to grey-scale to color. but then again i get frustrated....i find myself tackling the same problem, which means i'm not improving. yeah..the frustrating month.

a random pic of cosplayer...
i'll try to use my crush as reference study this month..but somehow i'm afraid i'll end up making him look horrible....that may end up again in frustration...=_=

(oh didn't notice i write the wrong year)

the january tiny studies

my tiny color studies this month. it's so few of them! my goal to is to create 4 per day since it's just a tiny thumbnail color studies.

i did have a hard time doing this. the 1st to 4th drawings i did in an hour or more. so long for just a color tiny studies (my mistake is i did do them in a larger canvass). i still do get easily distracted by the details in the ref.

the 5th one i did in 30 mins..it's really a small canvass..yeah i should have standard thumbnail size so they are uniform! and so i can work faster and just focus on the shape and color.
ahha anyway..hopefully next month i can do more!

reflection

it's been a while since i draw a face again.  when i did this one i just did try draw what i feel at the reference.
i never intend to make the girl pretty i just focus on the values and shape. i'm almost done w/in 30 mins but
after i saw the image i feel unsatisfied and correct all the mistakes that i made. i did try to make the girl pretty.

it took a lot of time fixing her but i didn't succeed. in my frustration i did redo the drawing but i end up being more disappointed in my work so i decided to return to my original drawing and fix her again. i somehow manage to make her face symmetrical and beautiful but i notice i did lose all the emotion. then i ask myself why do i keep making her look so perfect? why do i focus on those little details that i think that will make her perfect?

so then i decided to stop thinking that way and look at picture as whole, details still distract me but eventually     i manage to make her look pleasant w/o losing the original expression.

it's not the best Digi paint that I've done but i did learn alot from it and reflect on myself as i did this one.
